Toughened Glass Shopfronts

Glass-led shopfronts create a clear, open frontage that can place products and interior displays at the centre of the design. Depending on the property and entrance arrangement, the solution may use glass panels with discreet fittings or combine substantial glazing with aluminium framing.

Glass type, thickness, panel sizes, manifestation, door hardware, safety requirements and supporting construction must be selected for the actual opening. The products below are therefore reference configurations rather than fixed packages. Final suitability and any applicable design requirements are confirmed during specification; the website must not imply that one glass build-up is suitable for every premises.

For an accurate quotation, send the property location, photographs, approximate dimensions, preferred door arrangement and any available drawings or landlord criteria. The written quotation should clearly state what is supplied, whether installation is included and any items that remain the customer’s responsibility.

Frameless appearance does not mean “no fittings”

A glass-led frontage still depends on an engineered arrangement of panels, channels, rails, patch fittings, pivots, hinges, closers, handles and locks. The entrance may use a single or paired door depending on the opening and circulation plan. Each item should be named in the quotation so a customer can compare like with like.

Glass selection and visible safety details

The responsible designer must select an appropriate safety-glass make-up, thickness and support method for the location and panel size. Large transparent doors and screens may also need visible manifestation so users can recognise the glazing. Do not copy a competitor’s standard thickness or claim that all toughened glass provides the same thermal, acoustic or security performance.

Display, privacy and after-hours closure

Clear glazing maximises views into the premises, while privacy films, graphics or other treatments may be considered for particular zones. If a roller shutter is required, coordinate its guides and housing without undermining the intended clean appearance. Lighting behind the glass can change after-hours visibility, so review the whole frontage rather than the glass alone.

What affects the quotation?

Panel size and number, glass specification, holes and cut-outs, door hardware, rails or channels, manifestation, access, removal, delivery and installation all influence the price. Final glass dimensions must come from the approved survey/design process; customer estimates are for initial discussion only.
